Nurse Practitioners are Registered Nurses with advanced education and specialized training who can independently provide primary care. They are licensed to provide a wide range of services including the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions, prescribe medications, and order and interpret diagnostic tests. A Nurse Practitioner can:
Provide primary care and routine check-ups
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions
Order and interpret lab tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, ECGs, MRIs, and CT scan
Prescribe medication
Provide immunizations and injections (B12, cortisone, contraception, etc.)
Refer to specialists, therapists and community supports
Complete sick notes, driver medicals, insurance or disability forms
Both NPs and doctors can diagnose and treat medical conditions, prescribe medications, and order tests. NPs provide a broad range of services including: primary care and routine check-ups, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, prescribe medications and order tests, provide mental health support and preventative care. NPs can serve as primary care providers offering the same services as family doctors. No referral is needed, You can book for new and ongoing medical concerns.
